WIRE ROPE – Installing under load

To achieve perfect multiple layer spooling of the rope on the drum it is important to put tension on the rope during the installation
It is critical that the first layers are under tension. If they are too loose, top layers may wedge in under load which could result in damage to the rope and lead to discard.

Tensioning of the load should range between 1% to 2% of the MBL (minimum breaking load) of the rope.
